Before we discuss the tweaks and tips, it is best if you read the following.
There are four (4) basic suggestions on how to choose a Feng Shui
consultant:-
1. Decide whether you want the services of a practitioner of Traditional (Classical) Chinese feng shui or a New-Age feng shui practitioner.
Practitioners of traditional Chinese feng shui commonly belong to either or both of the two schools: San-yüan (Three Periods) and San-he (Three Combinations). San-He has its branch such as Yang Gong (Old and New method); while San-yuan has branched out to Pa-chai (Eight Mansions), Hsüan-k'ung Fei Hsing (Flying Stars) and Hsüan-k'ung Ta Gua. Unlike New-Age feng shui, these schools survive the continuing tests of time, with hundreds of years of theory, research and application. If traditional feng shui hadn't been valued in improving the livelihood of those Chinese who believed in it for thousands of year, it wouldn't be still existing and getting more and more popular worldwide.
2. Find a practitioner who appreciates and understands the culture from which feng shui originated.
You don't need to be a Chinese to practice or guided by feng shui. To practice it well, you should be familiar with Chinese culture. I have also found that most of the best practitioners have undergone quality training and apprenticeship under renowned master(s). The origins, history and knowledge feng shui imparted are indeed invaluable assets to be shared with you.
3. Find a feng shui practitioner who will agree to explain the rationale behind recommendation he or she makes.
In feng shui "why" is just as important as the "what" and "how". Good advice is based on good understanding of the rules and principles of Feng Shui. Just as a doctor who would be able to explain to patients the causes of an illness as well as the rationale behind the medicine prescribed, a competent feng shui practitioner should explain why certain building sites are more desirable or undesirable, and why some houses are conducive to the development of positive energy while the other will carry destructive energy.
4. Learn as much as you can about feng shui yourself.
If you know the principles of feng shui, you can ask your prospective consultants good questions, evaluate their answers intelligently, and make your choice wisely.

Tweaks & tips, do's and don'ts to get positive energy flowing into your life.
1. Aquarium or pond.
Do not have an aquarium in the bedroom. At times I advise my clients to install an external pond/aquarium which may consist of any number(s), types and color of fishes. It has always been a common belief that dead fish would cushion off or absorb some bad luck supposedly aiming at a resident of the house. Hence, if a fish dies, do not fret. It is best to consult a certified feng shui practitioner before installing a water feature as the appropriate direction and ideal location of the pond vary from house to house and office to office due to varying orientations. Furthermore, placing water feature may improve but may also worsen the financial situation of a person if it is wrongly placed.
2. Beams.
There should not be any beam(s) above your bed. Overriding beams above causes Qi to create some ripple effect which will affect your sleep and also your health. Therefore, do not sleep under a beam. Placing a stove under an overriding beam above is also bad feng Shui. To avoid adverse effects, move the bed or stove away from it. Don’t hang bamboo flutes on beams. It will not rectify the problem. Instead, you should create a false ceiling which will improve the energy above your bed or stove.
3. Pathways.
Keep pathway clear and pay particular attention of the flow of Qi to the center of the house or office. Clutter will keep bad Qi and obstructing good Qi from circulating within the house or office.
4. Building.
When designing a house or office, ensure the front door is not aligned to the rear door or balcony door. If it is, place a barrier eg. screen or furniture for the Qi to meander instead of travel in a mere straight line.
5. Mirror in bedroom.
No mirror in the bedroom should face the bed directly. Move it away and if it is not practical for any other reason, cover it with a cloth before going to sleep.

6. Work/Study Desks.
Avoid beam above a desk or the desk facing sharp corners of wall. Ideally, a desk should be placed at the far corner and away from the door. However, it is common to see desk placed with the user sits facing a wall. In such case it would not be ideal for studies and creativity. It is better to sit and face the window or door with a wall behind you to act as support. You would then feel like in commanding position of the room and be able to see what is going on at the door. If you could sit facing any of the four auspicious directions (obtained from the website’s Kua calculation), it would enhance your studies or work performance.
7. Using Red/Water feature.
If after a few weeks placing water feature or lots of red, if you can see or experience the negative effect like accident or legal case, robbery or health problem, remove it. It is best to call a practitioner. Be cautious when using lots of red. It is a powerful color. Use it as advised by your practitioner as these two can improve or worsen the situation.
8. Bedroom Door.
The bedroom door should not open directly to the bed or desk. Headboard of bed should not be on the same wall as the door. In addition, ensure your bed is not placed against a wall which has a toilet (WC) on the other side of the wall.
9. Ceiling.
Do not sleep under the lower side of a sloping ceiling..
10. Doors.
Keep room door open during the day while having toilet door closed at all time unless specifically told otherwise by a qualified practitioner.
11. Bathroom/Toilet.
Keep toilet water cistern lid covered is meant for hygienic reason and not because flushing with its lid uncovered will flush Qi or wealth away.
12. Health.
Place a wulou/calabash/gourd will help in containing sickness. It is associated with the Dui trigram and not a superstition that one might think. Both natural and copper types can be used but a real one is more effective than metal. It has to be hollow with an opening at the top and do not attach red ribbon around it.

13. Stoves/sinks.
Stove and sink should not be placed next or opposite to each other.
14. Windows.
Open window daily to allow fresh air to come in. This would allow beneficial Qi to circulate and replace stagnant Qi. Take note that certain windows are more auspicious then the others. Consult a qualified practitioner.
15. Features.
Good fengshui is also related to beauty. Keep beautiful forms/objects inside and outside the house and office- things that you find uplifting. Eliminate features that you find ugly or uncomfortable.
16. Remedies.
You should face one of your four good directions for work and sleep. Refer to Kua calculation page.
17. Remedies.
When installing or experimenting fengshui remedies, it is advisable to install each remedy at a time. Monitor changes in your life and home. If something goes wrong or doesn’t work well after a period of time, you will know which one to be taken out right away.
18. Books and magazines.
Do not believe everything you read in books or magazines. Use rational thoughts and logical analysis.
